What is this?

This policy canvas provides a way to quickly think through the major elements of an education policy such as the primary policy beneficiaries, funding streams, regulation, and desired outcomes. You can also use this to test potential solutions. 

When should I use this?

Use a policy canvas when your goal is to design a policy rather than a service or product. The canvas is meant to be used very early in the ideation process and revised multiple times as an idea is researched and tested. 

What is this?

A persona is a fictional person that represents the needs, desires, and motivations that your research has uncovered. Designers and marketers routinely use personas to focus their products and services on what matters most to their target population. You can also use personas to analyze data and generate insights.

When should I use this?

Use personas when you need a meaningful archetype to use as inspiration for policy solutions and to test your ideas against. 

What is this?

These are simple guidelines to create a pitch that will help you communicate complex education policy concepts to different audiences.

When should I use this?

You’ll want to create a pitch when your solution is coming into focus and you need to communicate it clearly to the parents, teachers, principals, superintendents, nonprofit leaders, or policymakers in order to socialize the idea or garner support.

What is this?

This resource is a good reminder to plan for a successful rollout of your policy recommendations and some helpful suggestions for how to do it.

When should I use this?

Ideally, your team would be thinking through people and organizations that will help and hinder potential policy ideas during the design phase to ensure a feasible solution. At the very least, you’ll want to think through partnerships when your design is finalized and you’re thinking ahead to adoption and implementation.
